I’m $3,600 into repairs here and ended up having to trade the car in at a loss because the work was never right. Visit 1: I initially came in for a Front Left axle, tires, and serpentine belt. I was weighing whether 2.7k worth of work made sense for me and ultimately decided yes on verbal confirmation the car looked great otherwise. Almost immediately after getting the car back something didn’t feel right but I drove it across town a couple times. Less than 200 miles later I was broken down on the side of the road with 2 broken coils (FL RR) and a broken strut (FL). Visit 2: While they covered the labor for the second visit, I paid a pretty high cost for parts only but wanted to be fair since the owner was being reasonable. I was skeptical about how these were missed during the first teardown but attributed much of it to just bad luck and it being a VW TDI with 174k miles on it. I paid an additional $900 for the parts and they did the work. I got the car back $3,600 into the repair and the front left still didn’t feel right. Visit 3: About 1.5 weeks later I took it back to the tech again for a 3rd visit and received confirmation that it was a bad axle that had been binding the whole time. They warrantied out the front left axle and replaced it. At this point I had no idea how this was missed in visit #2. After Visit 3: The car felt even worse after the third attempt. An independent shop later confirmed the axle they installed was actually an aftermarket part, despite me being charged and verbally told it was an OEM part. The independent shop recommended everything should really come out and start over but at this point I was thousands in with no idea how much more it would cost me to get this right. I felt the technician was misleading at best about the parts and the quality of the repair and I was constantly receiving conflicting information. In fairness the owner offered to personally look things over in visit #4 but I was so far into this mess with downtime and personal costs for the repairs & towing, that I gave up and sold it. If you have a VW, I’d suggest looking elsewhere; the lack of diagnostic oversight and quality control cost me thousands.

I've had nothing but pleasant experiences at The Car Place. They are very knowledgeable crew and always offer top-quality service, and are less expensive than a brand dealership. I highly recommend them for anyone with a foreign or fussy car.

It is always our pleasure working with you! Thank you for trusting us with your Mini Cooper and we look forward to many more great experiences!

Very grateful to have discovered The Car Place! When I got my oil & filter changed in California right before moving, the shop used an incorrect oil drain plug ... so when I came to Raleigh and went to get my oil & filter changed at Exxon, the guy said he couldn't do it because everything was jammed, and fixing it demanded a special tool to undo the damage done in California. Exxon said I had to go to a specialist and recommended The Car Place. I was wary at first of how much it would cost when I saw that The Car Place specialized in European and Asian luxury automobiles--but wow, the price was very reasonable, service was quick, and everyone very friendly and likeable. The Car Place is now my GO TO for all my car needs: highly recommended.

Todd, thank you so much for the great review. We work very hard to take care of our customers and it means so much to us to have our efforts appreciated. We look forward to seeing you again!
